Caddy 1.1.0: Templates, Backup & Restore, and Store Compliance

Caddy’s biggest update since launch is here, and it’s built entirely around one theme: your snippets should be more flexible to write, and easier to move.

Templates with fill-in variables

Snippets can now contain named variables using {variableName} syntax. A template pill is visually marked so it stands out from a plain snippet — tap it, and a fill-in dialog opens with one field per variable, in the order they appear. Fill in the values, confirm, and the completed text is copied to your clipboard, variables and all.

Variables can also carry pre-suggested values as tappable chips, so common answers are a single tap instead of typing them out every time. We’ve published a full walkthrough with examples in a follow-up post.

Export and import your whole library

Your snippet library can now be exported as a single block of plain text and copied to your clipboard — and imported the same way, by pasting that text back in. It’s a simple, portable backup format with no server round-trip involved. A detailed look at the format, including the metadata syntax and a worked example, is coming in a dedicated post.

Google Play Billing Library 8.0.0

Google set an August 30, 2026 deadline after which app updates using an older Billing Library would be rejected. This release bumps Caddy’s in_app_purchase and in_app_purchase_android dependencies to bring it onto Billing Library 8.0.0, so subscription purchases keep working exactly as before — with no visible change for anyone using the app.

Update to 1.1.0 on the App Store or Google Play.
